A young volunteerKirklees Citizens Advice Bureaux value volunteers very highly. The majority of our staff are volunteers, and without them we could not provide our service to the public.

Voluntary work for a CAB can include:

- helping with office administration

- becoming a qualified CAB adviser, giving advice to the public

- becoming a trustee on a CAB management committee

Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and range in age from 18-80+ Some volunteers join us becuase they want to do something useful and stimulating, but who are not looking for paid work. Other volunteers join us because they see the training we provide as helping them to obtain paid employment in advice or a related sector. We are strongly committed to providing paid work opportunities for those volunteers who want to develop their careers within Citizens Advice.

All volunteers are able to claim expenses.

We are looking for lively and enthusiastic people with the right attitude, rather than specific qualifications.

So:

Are you a good listener?

Are you willing to learn and enjoy helping others?

Do you support equal opportunities?

Can you commit yourself to a number of hours each week?

If you can answer "YES" to all these questions you could become a CAB volunteer.
